Macomb County Habitat For Humanity | About Us
Women Build Purpose
Women Build is a department of Habitat for Humanity International that promotes the involvement of women in Habitat home construction. Its aim is to help empower women to address the problem of poverty housing for themselves, their families and their neighbors.
Women Build History
The first women-only "Habitat build" took place in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1991, planting the seed for Habitat's Women Build Program. In 1998, Habitat for Humanity International officially created the Women Build Department. Since then, the program has grown in leaps and bounds. To date, more than 1,750 official Women Builds have been completed--nine of them in Macomb County!
Macomb County Women Build
Macomb County's Women Build Initiative is steadily growing and gaining in steam. In 2012 we will be building our 10th Women Build Home! We are very proud of our achievements. Our houses are scattered in Roseville, Clinton Township and most recently in Warren. Each house stands proudly as a testament to our passion for building. There is nothing more satisfying than driving by a Women Build house, seeing the fruits of our labors, and knowing that we played an important role in eliminating substandard housing in Macomb County.
Women Build Banquet
Looking for the Women Build Banquet? We have joined together to create one large premier event to be held on November 9, 2012 at Mac & Ray’s in Harrison Township. Watch the website for updates and more details!
